Just got the new album. So great.

Track 4 hit me like a ton of bricks. Fucking hell.

After listening to this about ten more times, I think this is her weakest album. Though, it's not bad. I thought the last two were as good as it gets, and Dogs was no slouch either. This one just seems to lack the cohesiveness of the other three; particularly the last two. I’m hesitant in saying this, but comparatively, she sounds a bit uninspired.

For now, it just sounds like a collection of ok-good songs. I'm really disappointed.

Positives:

*Her Voice is as strong as it's ever been.
*There are 3 or so songs that are good.
*It sounds good.

I hope to one day eat my words.

EDIT:One year later and I'm muching on those words. WHOOPS

the one thing i have noticed about this record is that it is all acoustic. no electric instruments at all.

I kind of see what you are saying. Some of the record sounds a little too familiar and/or rehashed. Sort of. It's really wonderful though, and it may take more listens... to really get into the flow of it.

She's playing The Subterranean on September 13 with The Bitter Tears and The Cape May.
