Stapleton has put out sooooo many records that a bunch obviously are crap, but the band is an overall NOT CRAP.

Living in fear of James Last is indeed a good comp to start.

The albums with Stereolab are awesome and so is Soliloquy For Lilith, buy I wouldn't recommend to start with that one. Most people would find it unlistenable, I think.

Or maybe a list of 8 or 10 essential records?

merzbild schwet
homotopy to marie
rock n roll station
salt marie celeste
soliliquy for lillith
sugarfishdrink (comp)
automating, vol. 1(comp)
thunder perfect mind

livin in fear of james last is a fine comp to start with.

the stuff varies so much i'd say hardly anything is essential.

Awesome.

Thanks.

"Thunder Perfect Mind" is a Current 93 album. Great great album though.

Maybe you should just buy a 'proper' for reals hip-hop record?

The Rihanna song which you hear on the radio every day is more experimental than current NWW. Sonically that is, not even considering where it falls within any ideas you might have about a particular culture (if so then perhaps you should consider that Stapleton has as many pierced and eyeliner wearing disciples as Gerard Way). I can be prone to exaggeration occasionally to 'prove' a point on the PRF (yes, perhaps a few of you may have noticed), but I can assure you that this isn't the case here.

Steve Stapleton i'm sure is an incredible craftsman and artist outside of NWW, who more than deserves to be celebrated, but I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't himself think the recent stuff to be bibble, much as he would be loath to marvel over the bubbles in the bath when he farts.

The list above is pretty good, although possibly my favourite Nurse With Wound release is the 'Bright Yellow Moon' collaboration with Current 93.

YOU GOTTA GO TO HELL ON THE BLACK DIAMOND TRAIN.
