I care not to get into or defend the rest.

Hmmm... I'm more into Hemispheres, 2112 and A Farewell to Kings. Caress of Steel isn't so bad.

I think they are a great band, but so severely overrated. They made prog rock accessible by streamlining it -- more guitar-riff oriented, dropped a lot of the classical influence, and very weak on the keyboards.

My Jevohava's Witness remodelling contractor warned me about Rush lyrics, and that they are a demonic band. Hmmm... Seemed to have missed all of my Cryptopsy records...

On the better end of of the prog(ish) bands, but I haven't liked them that much since I was 12.

I still have a soft spot for Alex's parts on Permanent Waves - apparently he was in his "new wave phase."

Peart's lyrics are...wow...just awful.

Apparently the front 2/3rds of the stage concurs:

"All the world's indeed a stage, and we are merely players
Performers and portrayers
Each another's audience outside the gilded cage"

Quite possibly the worst and most laughable "intellectual" lyrics I have ever heard.

Rush knows no restraint.

Crap, but I'm admittedly OK they exist.. And I too chuckle and turn up any Rush song I hear on the radio and smile. It's so bad.

"The production of Vapor Trails has been highly criticized due to the album's 'loud' sound quality, as compared to other modern recordings, which is very unusual for a major label release. As explained by Rip Rowan on the ProRec website, the damaged production is the result of overly-compressed (clipped) audio levels during mastering, though Rush have admitted that there was digital distortion during recording, which also contributed to the damage. Remastering the album would not correct the damage from digital distortion that was introduced during recording, but it could correct the other, more destructive damage that is the result of overly-compressing the audio during mastering. Fans continue to pan the sound of Vapor Trails and many are outraged that uncertainty remains whether the album will be remastered and reissued."

HAHAHA!
What a bunch of fuckups.
I used to like Rush when I was a teenager but haven't listened to anything by them since Grace Under Pressure.
