I have a '62 3-switch VI. Love it.

Got one last week. I've been after a jazzmaster guitar, but saw this in a decent store and thought the quality was miles better, compared to a Mascis squier, which was a bit more money. Compared to any other guitar or bass I've owned, this is posh stuff - which tells you a lot about my operating costs and attitude to expensive guitars.. ..my other guitars are junk but all worth having.It really does fall between two stools - i've put 3 guitar strings on it, and used 3 bass strings for the lower ones - and it works fine. No intonation probs/flapping strings, etc.So at the moment, it's a baritone guitar, and it works as one. Bit large but i'll get the hang of it. Shame super long guitar strings are hard to come by - at present I've tied strings together to acheive the necessary length, but such things do exist, somewhere!!Realy pleased with it, although in all honesty, it'll probably end up being used as a bass as it's a total blast as a bass.

Have you ever even played a VI?I was not taking bollocks as you English say. I was offering a suggestion.I have played the Fender Bass VI. I also own one.I think the gauges suggested for that instrument are excessively heavy for a standard EADGBE tuning. That is why I suggested getting a D'Addario set.

yeah, i'm trying to get hold of some xl 156 or 157.. ..they seem the way to go...
