It's hard to believe that For Respect, a good record in it's own right, was released only a couple of years before 2, which completely slays/melts my face as we say here.

I remember hearing that song on What Burns..., the one that starts with that latin cowbell rhythm, on a college radio station back when I was 17 or so, then the guitar came in and I was like, "What the fuck!"

Novel, but entertaining.

I saw them live in '99 and it was pretty cool. I used to kind of hate tapped guitar but I like some of the things the guy in this band does with it, although it can become grating after a while.

Overall, definately not crap, but not as mind blowing as it feels like they were trying to be though.

American Don, 2, and What Burns are great hands down. I'm not crazy about For Respect, and Singles Breaking Up is alright.

Keep in mind Damon was the only original member for American Don as well as World Class.

I wasn't crazy about World Class at first but now it's my favorite album of theirs. When I've seen new lineup play the older stuff I'll admit they haven't done it justice. But I like the new direction World Class goes towards.

Actually, skatingbasser is right. Ian wasn't really an original member. The original 1991 group was Damon, Mike Banfield and Pat Morris. Ian joined later on in 1992.

Really? I actually thought they did a pretty admirable job, all things considered. I really liked what Ian was doing with the looping delay pedals those last couple of tours, but I think this band was meant to have two guitar players on stage.

I can't say the new dudes have the same "charms" as Ian and Eric (the tension between band members was part of what made them Don Cab), but I think the new dudes played the songs pretty well. I know I wouldn't want to have to learn those songs.
