Rest in Peace, Peter Walsh. You're leaving a train-sized hole in your wake. I am so incredibly lucky to have grown with you but can't imagine life without you around.

First of all, as a colleague in the 90's, you insisted that we refer to ourselves as audio professionals. We were putting together audio packages for film and you didn't just teach us how to put the kits together. You taught us to be proud of ourselves for doing so. I learned lessons from you about professionalism that serve me to this day.

You never stopped helping people. So many independent filmmakers were able to make their movies and videos because you gave them jobs or helped them with equipment or helped to edit their videos. I've seen you give of yourself until you literally couldn't stand anymore.

No one could tell a story like you. That time you walked into the Mercury lounge with an amp so that you could get into the sold out show for free. Doing sound on tour with MBV and YLT. So many secrets! (Trimming Mary J. Blige's pubes on a David LaChappelle shoot. Hanging with Lemmy at the Anthology FIlm Archives benefit.) Who am I going to share them with and who would even believe me?

I have yet to meet anyone in my life that has been more supportive of my music than you. When you suspected that another band's drummer took off so they didn't have to open a show, you said to me, "If their drummer's gone, YOU'RE GONE!" Fortunately the guy showed up and it didn't come to a stand-off. That was in the mid-90's and as recently as a few months ago, you were giving me notes on a recent release.

Thanks for always being the most interesting person in the room who was always interested in me. Thanks for always sharing and getting my obscure references and coming up with more obscure ones. Thanks for being one of my greatest friends. You could always get away with being a huge pain in the ass because you were so goddamn funny.

PS. I put a track up on my Instagram page. Peter would kill me if he knew that I did this, so it might not be up for long. He traveled to Princeton in 1987 to record with Matthew Sweet and Robert Quine. They wrote a song called "Wheat Germ and Honey" for a project called Hippie Road Movie. It's a rough recording and the project got scrapped, but it makes me smile. https://www.instagram.com/tv/CRQGSegBOB ... HrjKBjyA0/

Shit. The guy in my profile pic, Andy Fordham, died. .

I'm not a darts fan, I can't even really remember why I used a picture of him, but he always seemed like a great guy, more for his normality and his struggles than for his talent.

RIP Andy.
