True, but a one man band?
There is one man in Helms Alee.

Folks here are confusing "solo acts" and "singer-songwriters" with "one man bands". A solo project and a singer songwriter might have one person play all the instruments in the recording, but they'll tour with a backing band or maybe play live shows as a stripped down acoustic set. A one man band has one person playing multiple instruments at once in a live setting. Or more recently they might dick around with multiple tracks on a loop pedal. Sometimes it's gimmicky and lame, sometimes it's not.

I vote not crap. Most recent example is Pajo opening for SUNN. I couldn't see everything he had up there, but the end result was super interesting and well presented.

Not crap. Jim Shepard, The Scroungers, and I'm sure there's even some stuff that's more known that I'm blanking on.

Also my understanding. So like Holy Sons is not a one-man-band but Chad VanGaalen is *when* he plays like this (which is how he started out busking) but not when he plays a bunch of instruments himself on his albums.

Fun fact: In addition to being a sometimes one-man-band and renowned animator, Chad VanGaalen did a stupid human trick on Letterman.

In conclusion, one-man-bands are often not great, but sometimes they are.
