He's definitely great, but I did get to see the Joey Baron Trio in the 90's and it left no impression at all. I was already a fan of his for his time with Bill Frisell, and he killed with Masada earlier that same month. Context means a lot, there is a big number of players I became a fan of in a band context (even as hired guns) who were underwhelming elsewhere. So many examples.first2letters wrote: Thu Jul 22, 2021 4:26 pmYou ain't kidding. He's such an incredibly musical drummer — I don't know how else to put it, but that's the only adjective that comes to mind. Killer tuning, too.PASTA wrote: Mon Jul 19, 2021 9:53 pmI mean if we're bringing JOEY FUCKING BARRON into it. I have, and would, pay to see him play solo for 90 minutes.dontfeartheringo wrote: Sat Jul 17, 2021 5:39 pm Guitar solos are bullshit. Pentonic, pedantic, what's the fucking difference?
