Whitey.
The only truly delicious brown rice I've ever eaten has been in some unusual desserts. And maybe in some mixed-rice dishes in Korea, where it shares space w/white rice, millet, various other grains, and sometimes beans. Beyond that, I've never seen much of it in East Asia.
Generally speaking, brown rice tastes like hippie food to me and doesn't have the nutty quality I keep wanting it to have.
White rice, on the other hand, is a versatile thing of subtle beauty.
Proper sushi rice, I should mention, is not the easiest thing to make. And delicious unto itself, very delicately sweet and ever so slightly sour. It should have flavor and be able to stand on its own w/just some nori--no fish. MrsEaster has managed a reasonable version using a pressure cooker. Requires a lot of rinsing.
Re: Rice: Brown vs. White
22Properly prepared sushi rice and properly prepared jasmine Thai fried rice is the food of the gods.
Brown rice sucks.
White.
Brown rice sucks.
White.
