I will not vote crap just to tip sacred cows, because he's definitely not crap. However let's take a look at his late period, and understand that he's not immune to total and utter crap.

It's not like anyone would vote Crap on Black Sabbath based on their shitty records (most of them, numerically), for an example. That's something like a 30% Not Crap ratio of releases, at best, it's in comparison to a number like this that Miles stands out so tall.

Even if his last decade was crap (I haven't given it a lot of a fair chance honestly) at least he was still taking chances.

Sometimes "taking chances" is not admirable. I understand his genre had shit the bed as a whole, but this is quite possibly the worst career low from any musical artist ever, especially compared to previous heights. And I LIKE Rockit!

I think Doo-Bop is cool, but Amandla is horrendous. That's all I know.
Otherwise not crap. The live recordings the other thread was about are probably my favorites.

Love him. His catalog never stops giving back
(I was listening to On The Corner when I bumped this)

One of the most important artists of the 20th century, period.
Everything everyone above has said…
A very minor waffle for saying that Eric Dolphy “plays like someone is standing on his foot”

One of those threads where you scroll down each page to make sure you haven't posted in it and are surprised when you had not.
Miles is Not Crap.

Big Fun and Ascenseur pour l'échafaud being my personal favs. But most of it is great.
You can tell he realised when he'd hit a creative dead end or when he was in a musical space where there was more to explore and develop. A rare skill that led to a particularly strong discography. Maybe one of the strongest.
His autobiography is one of the few excellent music books; you should read it asap if you haven't.
