Ace K wrote: How about: a good P-bass pickup to liven up an old Squier? Don’t want to break the bank or anything but it would be nice to give it a bit more oomph. I’m also open to chopping up the pickguard and putting something weird in there if y’all have ideas
Dimarzio Model P is always good. I have an old (70s? 80s?) Schaller clone and it sounds great in a cheap little bass.
Another vote for this pickup! Cheap and sounds great. They've been making it since almost the beginning.
I used to be a big fan of the Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder but now I'm wondering if my tastes have changed as I'm less stoked about it than I used to be.

Gold foils are extremely fun and I love them but they might be a weird fit for a Les Paul. Mojo UK makes some great ones in every size.
Yeah, I hear great things bout Mojo. Thing about the LP is I never use the middle pickup as is. Sure it has that neat sound with the bridge pickup, but I have the thing wired up like a 2 pickup guitar with a switch to swap out the neck for the middle so I can play it alone or paired with the bridge. I just never do so. So I'm half assed looking for something "completely" different to go in the middle. That's why I'm thinking some sort of single coil. It wouldn't have to play well with the traditional humbuckers in the neck and bridge. Currently they are all the factory Burny VH-1 vintagish PAF style units. Though, I've been thinking of swapping in these scaled up Firebird pickups for a change of pace: https://mrfabulous.com.au/index.php?rou ... uct_id=152
