Unwound by a damn sight.

Early Unsane w/Charlie Ondras drumming and Pete Shore on bass was just furious and relentless. (I don't care much about the more standardly heavy, tough-guy stuff that came later.)

Unwound always just sounded like an indie rock band to me.

Honestly, I’ve probably listened to the first couple of Unsane records way more than Unwound. Not sure why Unwound never stuck to me. Seems like I should like them.

~YUP!!! except that my inner metalhead dig records like "Scattered..." and "occupational hazard" quite a bit... Unwound did little for me and has aged badly IMO like most of that post-fugazi/post-hardcore 90s stuff (see also:Jawbox, Drive like Jehu)...

Me too. Would go Unsane but the bass in Unwound is too good.

I like that this is a contest between a band defined by restraint and one with a determined lack of it. It's like a thunderdome between Low and Coalesce if their names shared a prefix.

I suppose they both use a fairly limited palette to great effect.
