Funny, I've watched all of his films and I'm not even a fan.

I'll go with Lost Highway. It has this weird, creepy vibe that I find very engaging.

I think most of of his movies have some great details/scenes but lots of fat.

If this was a c/nc poll it would be NC with serious waffles.

Watched Straight Story last night. It follows my formula for favorite Lynch material: really weird director tells fairly straightforward story (like BV, and Wild at Heart) vs his totally nonlinear material (Eraserhead, Inland Empire). As much as I love Lost Highway and Mulholland.

But in The Straight Story it's interesting in the first act how his sense of timing and soundtrack makes it almost feel like bad acting. Spacek is great and Farnsworth might be on the Mt Rushmore of best old man performances. Still it has this weird B-movie or soap opera vibe in the first few scenes where the roles don't feel lived in, more like a dry run of their lines.

The trading war stories in the bar scene was amazing.

Straight story because it's the only movie I've seen of his besides Elephant man/dune-where every character doesn't act as if they were straight out of a mental hospital. I get what he's going for but I don't like it; there need to be at least *some* emotional resonance or relatability in the characters for me to care and with Lynch, it's like I'm watching some kind of freak show. I remember liking both Blue Velvet and Wild at heart in my early/mid teens but after rewatching, it's just not happening anymore; i'm more like "why?" and scratching my head, essentially becoming my dad...
