Ha, he does sound a lot like Donovan there. I like it.
That tune is sleepy, but there's a cool tension in the chords too. Hard to create that tranquil with tension thing. Wilco had some b-sides around y2k that did it so well.
Sea Change has weirdly become one of the favorite hi-res audio demo discs of cork-sniffing piezoelectric-quartz-crystal tweak type audiophiles. Of all the possible outcomes for Beck, I would not have predicted this particular fanbase..rsmurphy wrote: Sun Dec 17, 2023 10:17 am I unknowingly heard a song from this release the other day and was struck by how beautiful it sounded. Kinda shocked to realize it was Beck. I think I'd like Sea Change if I ever gave it a good sit-down.
This is my favorite Beck song of all time as well.kicker_of_elves wrote: Mon Dec 18, 2023 10:33 am The Loser single has Fume on it, which is my all-time favorite Beck song of all time, hands down.
I saw him at The Middle East in Cambridge in 1994 and he was fantastic. It was a few days after my Grandfather had died and I was at their house with a bunch of family and really needed to get out of the house. I saw that he was playing and went. I probably would not enjoy his show now but for that show alone he gets a not crap from me.Wood Goblin wrote: Mon Dec 18, 2023 8:19 am I saw him play at Yo-Yo a Go-Go in Olympia, Washington, in . . . 1994? 95? He played at the end of the morning/afternoon set. We’d expected him to suck, but he didn’t. He completely won over a skeptical crowd, in fact.
