I hate the mid scooped sound and the fizzy compressed guitars of Tweez so much I can’t even listen to it enough to evaluate the songs. Whoever likened it to Guitar Center was on point.

Spiderland but my favorite moment in their entire discography is on the EP version of “Rhoda” when Britt(?) yells “ONE TWO” to bring everyone back in.
This moment is also a favourite of mine. My favourite instance of counting outside Sesame St.

Tweez is a mess. Spiderland is almost perfect.

Laughing Stock and Spiderland are all you need to justify the 90s.

Now this:
******************
SLINT is a band from Louisville, Kentucky. tweez was its first recording, released in 1989. This version is the tweethan mix, created in 2023 and released in 2024.
About the tweethan mix: Per Ethan Buckler (Slint bassist on tweez), “Finally - after thirty-five long years - the other guys in Slint decided to be nice to me and let me have my Tweez remix. I complained incessantly back in the day about how the Albini production style ruined our first recording.” In 2023, Ethan took the original multi-track recordings to a local studio in Louisville. Upon handing the engineer a copy of a pre-tweez Slint practice tape, he said “Make it sound like this.” This tweethan mix album is the result. Mastered by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service.

That really reminded me of Tool circa-Undertow: gothic-ish tinged metal.

Shit. That sounded awesome. Not a fan of remixing and such but in this case...
Not a fan of the original sound.

Albiz expressed a lot of regret inserting his ideas into Tweez, using that as an example of why he maintained a more neutral stance with later recordings. I'm a little curious to hear the remix. (Oh snap, I missed the preview track, that is good)
