Not a big fan of any of the mentioned albums and the ones I like (think "Down", "Superunknown") were still underwhelming. I remember liking the Hammerhead "Into the Vortex" album and a few others like Shellac, Kyuss, JSBX and Trumans Water but not much else I remember, I think it was this era I essentially stopped following contemporary rock but I liked a lot of Hip-Hop albums from the year like "Dare iz a darkside" (Redman), Resurrection (Common), Street Level (Beatnuts) etc. though.

1984 was not a good year for music as a whole but several classic albums from the US indie scene (SST had one hell of a year) and there were several cool metal records released (Mercyful Fate, Metallica, Trouble, Celtic Frost, W.A.S.P. Voivod etc). At the same time, production values and general vibe in more mainstream music started to go straight down the toilet...

Oh, shit, sorry. I accidentally crapped on 1994 then.

(If I could do it again: NC but some waffles for the street team.)

Morning haste...
You can. It’s a vote changeable poll.
Done! Thanks for explaining that to my distracted ass.
To be fair it was a joke that has required far too much explanation on my part 😂

I have to amend my slightly jaded post to conceded that certainly compared to 2004, 2014 (and I'll boldly predict 2024) 1994 was fucking magical.

I remember buying Superchunk 'Foolish' that spring, that was a big one for me.

Also thinking of:

Grifters 'Crappin' You Negative'
Notorious B.I.G. 'Ready to Die'
