At the chestburster scene in Alien when out of shock and disgust Lambert exclaimed "ohhh my god" I felt that. More genuine reactions in horror, I say
There is a shot of the ship going from left to right across the screen in Prometheus, a tiny and insignificant dot in the glittering void, that is my favorite shot of a spaceship in movies. It's at around 7:35, and seeing it on a huge screen made my jaw drop.DrAwkward wrote: Tue Aug 27, 2024 1:46 pm One thing about the original Alien I love is that the shots of outer space look colder and more desolate and more real than any other space movie I've seen.
What about when the facehugger attacks Kane? The mega proto jumpscare abruptly cut to an almost silent shot of that weird ship standing there in the dark...?iembalm wrote: Tue Aug 27, 2024 11:39 pmThere is a shot of the ship going from left to right across the screen in Prometheus, a tiny and insignificant dot in the glittering void, that is my favorite shot of a spaceship in movies. Actually I think that's maybe their strongest suit. I don't even like straight-ahead genre movies typically, but both of these succeed as "cinema".
Tell that to Sigourney Weaver's undies.Gramsci wrote:Aliens is more fun to watch
Even though I voted Alien, that "the aliens never sold each other out for a goddamn percentage" line in Aliens has to be my favorite in the entire franchise.Jacques wrote: Wed Aug 28, 2024 10:44 am
I do love that part in Aliens where Paul Reiser is like "I'm mad about aliens and I'm mad about you!"
Don't @ me; it's in the director's cut or something.
