Re: unhinged FEMININE vocals

+1 on Diamanda Galás. To my knowledge "You Must Be Certain of the Devil" was the first song I ever heard from her. The mélange of a gospel rave-up, wretched wailing, and glossolalia, made the strongest impression and turned me into a fan for life

Patty Waters' Sings is a phenomenal recording of moonlit balladry, and then you get to her version of "Black Is the Color of My True Love's Hair" where she finds terrifying and increasingly demented ways to repeatedly scream "black." A singular talent that Patty Waters.

I recently noticed that former FM Brett Eugene Ralph's record store, Surface Noise, received the Inflatable Boy Clams 7". "I'm Sorry" is my go-to but "Skeletons" has Jojo Planteen's slowly-losing-it vocals.

The Darker Skratcher compilation from LAFMS was like an earthquake that for myself uncovered all sorts of demented weirdness. Vetza's wild and squeaky vocals on "Stale Puppy Dog Tails" for myself foretold the demented sing-song-y baby girl voices explored by Kat Bjelland, Kathleen Hanna, and countless others.
