We watched the list of musicians during the credits.
Among the drummers was . . . Lars Ulrich.

I finally saw this and came here thinking I was the only one who wasn't amazed by this film. Not true for the discerning PRF viewers. I voted Not Crap but it was disappointing after reading glowing reviews.

I think my biggest problem with this movie is that it is at times a lowbrow, tongue in cheek, exploitation film and other times it is a artfully crafted film with excellent cinematography, a thematic resonance and character development. In this case one feels like it undermines the other. It could have been all hilariously ridiculous or retained its poignancy.

I hate to compare but I can't help but think of Get Out as another horror movie with the awesome premise of "white people are scary". But that movie can give a few laughs because it is so much more focused and controlled.

NOPE!

That ending was super dumb. 90 minutes wasted. I should have watched Buffy instead.

Watched it last night not knowing anything outside of being aware of this thread and that vampires will be there. I've had fun, solid 6-7 stars of out of ten, it didn't occur to me like it's attempting to be an all time great, more like schlocky maybe Tarantino-esque fun with political/social references commentary which knowingly takes a turn towards Eveil Dead 2 and it delivered at that. The anachronic music scene was superb and delightful, I've feel like I will be listening to the old blues record I have in the following days. There was something very rewarding about how well the theme of the force of good being black people with old proper blues and pure evil being dorky white people with their fucking banjos and stomp clamp hey music was tied to the script and execution of the film.

Cons - it felt like some needed the film needed were cut out of it.
NOT CRAP

Not Crap overall. We really enjoyed it, but enjoyed the first half more. The vampire reveal and the tonal shift of the film was basically an updated, more allegorical From Dusk Til Dawn. Still, lots to love about the film. Didn't find it as brain-'sploding as some did, but that's ok! If it wins a bunch of Oscars I'll be delighted, because when ever does a black-made horror movie win Oscars?

Every time I see Michael B. Jordan I want to go back and watch The Wire.

Both Michael A. Jordan and Michael B. Jordan were good in this.
