It's not your fault he sucked.
This made me laugh out loud, thank you!
Wish I could take credit for that one... but it was of course said by/about Michael Bolton first.

Non, je ne regrette rien
And I will continue to enjoy certain of Mr. Joel's musics. Additionally, what little I've heard from him he seems pretty down to earth and self-deprecating. I like the un-staged video of him upset that somebody was throwing out a perfectly good piano on the side of the road.
Yes, this was broadcast live on Top Of The Pops (UK's most famous music program) via satellite link.
As absurd as this all is, the cheesiest part is still Peter Hook.

I kinda feel like Hook's contributions diminished after Joy Division. He was one of my main influences on bass.

I like New Order (including that song even if it's a bit Toad The Wet Sprocket) and he invented a bass style almost by accident, but he's been a Cheesy Rockin' Dad for a long time now.
Will I come to regret my post if he gets sick? I dunno, I read his autobio and it's pretty shit talky too.

Desultory dance-rock bass? I enjoy some of the New Order stuff, but the bass lines never grabbed me.

New Order has a ton of great bass tracks. That Baywatch thing is what it is. Embarrassing maybe but miming is miming anywhere. Speaking of, there’s a bass solo on that song. Any other Baywatch/Top of the Pops crossover would never. Still not as dumb as the stuff Billy Joel was pumping out on his best day.

I taught myself to play bass playing along Joy Division and New Order records, too.

Nah, talking shit about shitty music will always be cool and funny. Even better when the 'artist' is a total dipshit clown with thin skin. It's fucking music and if someone can't deal with people disliking it they have no business putting it out there.
I'm not talking about all of the sad losers who used the occasion of Steve's death to point out every dumb thing he said in his early 20's. That's beyond shitty.
I like plenty of Billy Joel's music despite him being a pretty ridiculous person. There are groups in this very community more deserving of relentless shit talking.
