Yeah.. fuck it. I'm in favor of them reuniting now too. ('s not like I'd be going either way)

Ja, the commitment to their craft is quite inspiring, but I have never clicked with 'em (Hemispheres almost does the job... but not quite). I imagine one day I'll get it, but I've had that day with many other über pömpous prog bands and Rush continue to elude me... there's something very earnest about their music that's a real turn-off for my tastes.

But, yeah, N.C.; everyone (rightly) sung Peart's praises but Geddy Lee is a monster muso, he's the MVP on the classic material I've heard.

I grew up with Rush and soon grew out of them. Saw them in high school, introduced them to a friend that I went with, 35 years later he drunkenly messages me what I can only assume are later-period Rush lyrics with no context. He loves me for passing on this lifetime love and I think they are silly. Life is nuts etc.

I was thinking though, whatever one thinks about Neil Peart's particular style of drumming, what a thing it is to build something with friends that brings joy to people all over the world, something that, when you are gone, another younger person can just slot into and tour the world bringing more joy to people and probably having a pretty great time. And it doesn't cause much harm as far as I can see, if you disregard the fact that they are failing to listen to my music, which admittedly does not provide much of an outlet for air drumming.

I've watched some of her fusion videos before out of boredom. Not my thing, but great on them for choosing her and great on her for obviously getting the gig w/ her chops and probably overall demeanor.

The music's not for me, but they get a total NC for doing their own thing, forever, and as has been said, Alex and Geddy seem like the nicest people ever, who just wanna play their songs again for people who want to hear them, Neil's wife and daughters gave their blessing, so why not.

I have a midi pack that Anika did for Superior Drummer, never used any of the files cause they're all too proggy for anything I'd do, but she'll be a great fit for them. And imagine being a prog drummer and you get a phone call asking if you wanna come to Canada and jam with Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee. Ridiculous! I always have fun air-drumming all the crazy fills in Tom Sawyer (you know the ones), imagine doing that FOR REAL.

I'm not a big Rush fan but I vote YES based on "The Spirit of Radio" alone. Great tune, and a blast to drum to, or an unreasonable facsimile thereof.

As a kid I thought the minimoog in "Tom Sawyer" was spooky-sounding

Just imagined a Rush vs Van Halen thunderdome - two bands I never really fucked with but enjoy the occasional song. VH has more songs I like so they'd win.

That would be a pretty sick T-dome. Strong feelings are gonna come out for that. I wonder how much the tickets will be for this reunion. Probably outside my "fuck it, ok" range, but it would be fun to see them now.

They should have Primus open for them since they've got a new drummer now too. Foo Fighters are not invited though.
