Absolutely with you on this. I grew up in small town New Zealand were “the norm” was Metallica, AC/DC maybe Slayer and Cannibal Corpse if you were cool. I remember listening to Reign in Blood the first time, and I had a huge fucking grin on my face with all the fast tempos and wheedly-wheedly solos on that record. That was a moment that piqued my interest for louder stuff.
In my 40s I also heard Reign in Blood and was floored. It sounded like it could have been recorded yesterday. I’m all in now.
