Yes, the Sox radio announcers said exactly that...saying that they hadn't seen this rule invoked in thirty years.

Greatest Ed Farmer call:
SETUP: Sox gave up 8 runs in an inning, including 2 homeruns, a couple doubles and a triple...

Coming out of the commercial break, Here's what Ed Farmer said:

"Welcome back to U.S. Cellular Field. We're heading into the bottom of the sixth inning as the grounds crew finishes up dragging the warning track, after that 8-run top of the sixth."

So great. So Funny is Ed Farmer.

By the way, here's what the Cubs' Len Kasper and Bob Brenley "sound" like. The lack of chemistry is killing me.

LEN: "Here's the two-one pitch to Lee... and he drives one into the gap in right. He's going to have himself a stand-up double. His sixth of the year."

BOB B:...........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................(REPLAY BEING SHOWN).................
............................................................................................................................."Nice job of taking that pitch to right." ....................................
............................................................................................................
LEN: That'll bring up Right Fielder, Jeromy Burnitz...

Yeah they played a snippet on the radio the other day of Brenly explaining to the audience that on a pitchout, they "want the runner to run so they can try to catch him stealing." Genius.
There are crispy fries waiting to come out of your oven: you just have to make them and put them there.

Angus Jung, except for the fact that you are an A's fan, I am very surprised that you are arguing this point. I'm actually a little bit disappointed.

I honestly feel the same way about you, Brad.

I would never, ever want to root for anybody that stuck their arm out on purpose so that an off-speed pitch would hit them. I honestly don't see a lot of difference between that and A-Rod trying to spike the ball out of Arroyo's glove.

It's bush-league.

And then you complain about when they turned the lights on. Good God, that's petty. Sore-loser, petty crap.

It's disappointing, Brad.

Bradley R. Weissenberger wrote:You make it sound like Crede used his arm as a bat. Wtf. Duchscherer threw a slow breaking ball well inside. If Crede leaned into it,

IF he leaned into it? More petty crap from you, Brad.

All I have to say to that is:

Please have your eyes checked.

My last words on the subject: If Crede would have just stood there and let the ball hit him, therefore violating a rule of baseball that is never called, I would have been okay with it. I could have trotted out the rule book to make an argument, but I would not have. That is a rule that is never called, AND I AM OKAY WITH THAT!

Crede saw the ball coming toward him. He did not just stand still so the ball would hit him.

He.stuck.his.fucking.arm.out.to.make.sure.the.ball.would.hit.him.

He deserved no reward for this bush-league move, and he got no reward for it.

Please watch the replay. This is what happened.

This is the same point I have already made multiple times. And I imagine the inevitable response will be the same one I've already read multiple times.

So please, respond! Win the argument! I watched what happened! I saw very clearly what Joe Crede did! You will not be able to convince me that it was a typical no-attempt-to-get-out-of-the-way HBP! You never will! But respond, and win! Win! You win! Your team doesn't, but you do! You win!

As for all the beanballs, I'm sure the White Sox will get "payback" when they play the Athletics in Chicago. And maybe the warm water won't work for the Athletics' showers, like they used to do to visitors at the Boston Garden. "Payback" will be a mother. I'm sure of it.

I am done with this topic now.

Uh oh!

Did anyone see Brad Wilkerson of the Washington Nationals stick his arm into a pitch last night?

From the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel:

[Milwaukee Brewers starter Chris] Capuano nicked Brad Wilkerson on the right shoulder with a 1-2 changeup, leading off the bottom of the ninth - a pitch Wilkerson could have easily avoided.

The home plate umpire has the discretion to deny a HBP if the hitter intentionally leans into a pitch, but Yost had no illusions of receiving such a gift from Kerwin Danley.

From ESPN.com:

"Capuano hit Wilkerson on the right shoulder with a 1-2 changeup to open the ninth.

'It just got away from me a little bit,' said Capuano, whose 8 1/3 innings was the longest and arguably the best outing of his major league career. 'He could've got out of the way, but he was trying to get on base. They never, never call that.'"

brad, i was so sure you were posting to note that j.dye sucked to the tune of three doubles last night!

but no! it was just to continue a weeks-old feud!

salut, weeks-old feud! and salut, j.dye, who is/was to play so bad this year.

the other night, we played a game at sox park where each guy takes a turn holding a cup

he holds the cup until the batter is done w/at-bat

if batter did not get a hit, guy puts a dollar in the cup and passes cup to next guy to hold

if batter did get a hit, guy takes any money in the cup before passing cup to the next guy

anyway, when jermaine dye comes to bat, the funny joke was to put a dollar in the cup immediately and pass it straight on to next guy. the unfunny joke was that every time this was done, it was same result as playing game normal way.

but salut, j.dye! exc. for mark buehrle and paul konerko, you are sox king for the day!!!!

triple double is in basketball when a player gets into double figures usually for asists, rebounds and points.

don’t even get me started on my cubbies. it’s looking like it’s going to be a very, very long year.
