howcome everybody takes the bridge pickup out? :?

I've done some work on it. It needed one new fret, I had that replaced and the frets recrowned. I took out the saddles and replaced them with graphite straddles. The pickup in the neck is homade, I routed both the neck and the bridge so I could fit pickups in it. I haven't yet wired the bridge pickup. I've put about 100 dollars extra work into it. I bought it for $360. I don't ever plan on selling it. It's a fun guitar.

Yeah, I was just too lazy to route the bridge in mine...just sold mine for $400...couldn't get used to the neck.

...and yeah...I'll admit it, I'm a total gearhead. I could look at people's guitars all day. That means I don't accually PLAY my guitars? I don't know where you get that idea from. Nothing wrong with some guitar porn. If it's not your thing, move on to another thread. Leave us geeks alone.

toomanyhelictopers: thanks for the offer, but it's alright. I already have a guitar or two lying around somewhere. Nice guitar though.

...as for people who are taking offense to me making fun of this thread, go get a sense of humour. I am just as geek as the next guy. Just trying to restrain myself by not posting any lewd pictures or lists of my gear. But who knows, I may break down later. (Like I did with my eggbeater up there)

Oh, ok, that's cool. I was like, "If he's surprised by this, then he must never be able to get out of the house, as he spends an hour every morning stunned by the way he makes a drink out of beans."

Props for the eggbeater thing, by the way. :D

No real offense taken here. I was pretending...ha ha fooled you!

technology is just so fascinating. I'm still enamored with my can opener, and it's not even electric. I'm also having a love affair with my blender. breakfast is usually an orgy.

thanks for the props. word.

(oh, and fooled me? who says I was talking to you? I didn't say bent_christian... I said "people who are taking offense" - obviously I meant the guy who tried to sell me that hideous guitar. He must have been offended, otherwise why would he try and unload something like that on me. . . . . . . )

I had a Kramer with single coils for a couple years. It definitely had a different tone and feel than one of those guitars that they make outta wood, but it weren't no Travis Bean.

The Bean has a neck-through design. The Kramer neck is just a crummy bolt on. This design does not deliver the tone and sustain of a Bean, but it still uses just enough aluminum to make the guitar annoyingly unbalanced.

dekko spannish wrote:howcome everybody takes the bridge pickup out? :?

People will typically replace the Kramer pick-up with a new one that is really heavy. This will act as a counter-weight against the heavy aluminum neck.
If anyone tries telling you Kramer pick-ups are weak and lack tone they are fools. If you use a serious rig like a Peavy Backstage and record it (and everything else) with a Shure sm57 mic you'll get a pretty good tone every time.
