Ah - see how it's open to interpretation... cause I would say that is a vocals-only intro, but an intro nonetheless... interesting...

Gonna try and hunt down some of the songs everyone has listed - thanks!

Many of these don't start right away?

Do you meant 'intro' like keyboard whooshes or songs that don't start full tilt on 'the one'?

Like the buzzcocks one starts with the vocal and then then guitar comes in right after so?

An obvious Beatles one is Help! Unless the instruments and vocals coming in at once count as an intro because it's not really repeated in the song?

paperback writer totally has an intro. a capella harmony, then lone guitar riff, then everyone comes in.

when i think no intro, immediately think of one song:

"digging the grave" by faith no more.

first verse immediate.

..."Game of Pricks" has an intro on the Tigerbomb 7"- can't recall the Alien Lanes version though, but I guess it's probably introless there.

"Pipeline/Kill Time" last track on side A of Sister (Sonic Youth)
"Guns Before Butter" last track on side A of Entertainment! (Gang of Four)

...hmm, how about songs without an intro last track side A's?

is this conversation geek enough?

Teenage FBI has an intro. It's just that it's vocals and guitar.

Ah, yes i forgot there are 2 different versions. One starts instantly at the first line of verse one though. Agreed about Paperback Writer comments. I would certainly say that is an intro indeed.

How about 'Here Today' by the Beach Boys. And 'Bike' by the Pink Floyd. Do they count?

Paradise by the Buzzcocks - it really starts full bore.
Straightaway, as an English bloke would say. Brilliant!

I don't remember what the music does, but it always stuck me as weird that the Vandals' "Tastes Like Chicken" starts off with the word AND. Like I had missed a part of the song.
