it's a FIFTY cd box set. yep, 50 cds, several hundred dollars, a few days of merzbow. WREK in atlanta aired the whole thing back to back over some 48 hours.

There's not too many noise artists I can say I like, except for a handful of Power Electronic stuff like Whitehouse, but Merzbow's not crap. I agree there's something like a specific character in his work, that others just seem to lack. I bought Pulse Demon in Borders when I was around 15, and something about just stuck with me. It took my innocence away.

Not really sure since when being into S&M makes you a misogynist. I haven't noticed any under or overtones of that sort in any of his work. Not that I'm familiar with it all. There's plenty that I don't need to own but I do own a few and they're all pretty good to great. I ended up being present for the mastering of one of his records and he was a nice, bright, intelligent guy. I've only seen him live one time, recently, he was using two laptops, but I'd rate it as one of the best noise performances I've seen, very well structured and it sounded great. Trying to release 1000 records is perhaps an excessive goal, but as a lover of silly ideas in music and it's presentation, I have to respect it.

not crap, i have a few of his albums...i also have a split he did with Boris called Sun Baked Snow Cave that i like from time to time...

I beg to differ.

Akita thinks a lot about structure, method, etc. Merzbow is highly conceptual - and while I think a lot of conceptual art is complete bullshit, his concept is one of the few I can go along with.

An easy entry into the Akita mindset is reading about Kurt Schwitters.

I would start a band called Merzbowie.
