London Explosions

Good god. When I heard the news this morning, the first thing I thought in my half-awake state was "I hope the London folks from the EA board weren't hurt." I hope all you guys and your families are safe.

Glad to hear you're all ok. I can't get through to my friends in London yet, but I'm pretty sure they were nowhere near the blast areas.

BTW, this picture is being plastered all over the USA websites, but I can't figure out what this thing is on the lady's face. Is it a medical mask of sorts, perhaps to cover up her facial injuries? A towel with holes poked in it to protect her from the smoke? It's really quite bizarre looking.

Anyway, here's hoping that the death toll stays low and that everyone's relatives and friends are ok.

The cold facts of the awful events from this morning:

>The three bombs on Tube trains were between Liverpool Street and Aldgate East (at 08:49 British Summer Time (07:49 UTC), at Edgware Road at 09:33 BST, between King's Cross and Russell Square at 09:40 BST. An explosion occurred on a double-decker bus at 09:50 BST (the No. 30, Hackney to Marble Arch) in Tavistock Square, ripping the roof off the top deck destroying the back of the bus. The number of explosions is smaller than first thought, since some occurring on trains between two stations with wounded emerging from both, giving the false impression each had been individually affected.

I think the quoted death toll, though horrific, could have been so much worse with explosions ripping through 3 packed tube carriages and a double decker bus. Though that is little consolation. A very weird and bleak day.

Ditto.

You know, the last thing I did last night before going to bed last night was watch an episode of "The Young Ones". I had a good laugh and had many fond memories of London. It was shocking to wake up to this terrible news.

I spent a good chunk of July 4th at the D-Day Museum in New Orleans getting very upset over the stupidity of war mongers and their inabilitiy to learn from mistakes mankind has made previously. What is wrong with people?
