'system of the world' by neal stephenson. third book in the baroque cycle. similar to cryptonomicon, but gaudier.

just read a soon-to-be-published first novel by author brian charles, called 'hold onto me tightly, as if i knew the way'. pretty good. the story of turning 18 the summer after highschool, losing one's virginity, drinking way too much, and falling in love. i'm a sucker for this type of book. well written.

The point was to answer this:

with "Book Talk", a thread that lays dormant for periods of time, that is full of exactly the type of information that that damned fly was asking about. Indeed, executed in the full spirit of fascism.

Post wherever you want, I could give a shit.
It's like you put everything into a bottle inside itself.

[faux-assed cooler-than-thou-attitude]truth: i actually bought the first copy of that book. i share a work space with punk planet books, the publisher, and i got the first copy out of the box when they arrived. it was so fresh and warm! [/faux-assed cooler-than-thou-attitude]

joe is a good friend, and i love that book. he has new titles on the way, and a good re-issue.

Jay-

I started Cryptonomicon (finally) a couple days ago. I have a feeling when finished, I'm going to want to read everything else Stephenson has written. Can you give me a primer? It's pretty obvious (from the above post) that you've read a lot of his stuff, and the reason I bought the book in the first place (a couple years ago) was from a mention of it in the Dianogah interview primer (or somewhere) on the old website. Enlighten me...
