i thought it was crap, which had almost everything to do with johnny depp. i was really disappointed.

the kids were pretty great and visually it was alright (as far as the factory goes) if not a little bit confused. charlie and family were great and his house looked awesome.

it's kind of crazy how much depp messed up this movie for me. there was nothing human about his willy wonka, it was just a really silly, somewhat disturbing 1-dimensional caricature of a wacky character. he wackiness lacked any of the necessary subtleties. i appreciate where they were trying to take the role, but it just didn't happen.
