The answer is yes - I've found out that a surprising amount of Sunn0))) turbojugend are completely ignorant of "Earth 2", "Eggnog", etc., or just don't care.

Seriously though, BF'nD. I wouldn't have voted "crap" had they just recorded one LP and fucked off. Enough is enough.

Stick it, Rabbit.

Actually, I take that back (partially). Live, they were blown out of the water by their support - Whitehouse - when I saw them last. I was quite exhausted after about twenty minutes of their set and I just wanted to lie down. They were hardly boring though.

I prefer Khanate. And Christopher Cross.
Stockhausen!

Not crap.

I agree it's a live thing. Unless you live 10 miles from anybody else
and have a massive rig to play your records through. At home i'd much
rather listen to A Beaurocratic Desire For Revenge or Capture & Release
which I feel don't suffer as much from the lack of volume.

Live though, definitely one of the best.

Plus Greg is a really nice guy. First time I saw em he gave away quite a
lot of his rider to anyone who stayed for a chat afterwards.

They are up there with Lightning Bolt as the loudest things i've ever heard
that didn't use a proper PA. Awesome.

I don't think I'm gonna have much use for their albums at home but again I'm very glad I saw them. The McGuire Theater at the Walker was a terrific venue for that show -- big black foggy vibrating cube of DOOOOOOOOOOO))M.

I found Boris slightly boring at points but pretty good overall; they'd probably be much better seen in a rock club. Oren Ambarchi was great.

Also: the spectacle of Atsuo, hooded and robed in black, standing on boxes with wires in both hands --

Very disturbing. When he started staggering blindly toward the audience and climbing over seats and people, I about had a seizure. I'm not sure whether the lack of explicit context made it more disquieting or less so. Without knowing how long Sunn O)) have been doing this, I'm surprised to have found no mention of it in any review or interview, not that I've searched exhaustively. Is it so obvious and/or sensationalistic that writers are reluctant to bring it up? Or maybe the band just thought it looked cool and had nothing more in mind; but somehow I really doubt that.

After hearing what prima donnas they were at the Emissions at the Monolith festival this past weekend, I reiterate:

CRAP

An art project playing at being a band.

And going to a small music fest and not bothering to listen to a single other band on the bill? Rude CRAP.

Sunn0))) agent: "They're going to be the next MC5. Just watch."

CRAP.
