My high school thrash band opened for Sacred Reich and Nuclear Assault....first real show I ever played. We didn't get a dime, I never asked about getting paid.

Unsane, 1992, the Club de Wash in Madison which years later got burned to the ground. They sounded great, just like a jet airliner. Since the volume was so consistently high, I actually fell asleep on my feet a few times.
Even though this thread is old, I'm posting, and pouring a little of my 40 for the club, and a little of my 40 for everybody's favorite drummer. And, a little more of my 40 for O'Cayz Corral.
Thanks

our first show ever, we opened for Tad at the Rathskellar in Boston. Great crowd. Rockin' show. I think we got paid too. It was mostly downhill after that....

Opening for Union 13. 5, 6 years ago. I was 19 or so, so I was still young enough to appreciate the mosh pit. So the night's events went: mosh, set-up, perform, tear-down, crowd-surf. Didn't expect to get paid, thought never even crossed our minds. Then we got paid, thought we were King Shit, and promptly blew the money on pot and breakfast at Bob Evans. We also wound up catching the drummer's dad on his way to his mistress's house, but that's a long (read: related, but irrelevant) story. Biggest fucking blast I've ever had playing a show.

Junior Highschool... 7th grade... my band was called Phoenix (I know, I know...). We played 10 songs in the gym after school the last day before holiday break. I played drums and at that time did not yet have a hi-hat or a kickdrum pedal so it was mostly Mo Tucker style caveman beats. I have tapes of that band. Terribly terrible... but it was really fun at the time.
My second show was about 5 months later in a band called Mass Confusion in a similar situation. Terribly terrible.
(EDIT: Sorry...didn't read the ".. with out of town bands" part.)
My first show with out of town bands was when I was in highschool in Dallas... my band opened for a band who had a one time member of Black Oak Arkansas in a club in Deep Ellum, Dallas... we did not know which member nor did we know who Black Oak Arkansas were. It was a very bearded, hard rock crowd and we played 30 minutes and got $75, a pat on the back, and an offer to smoke pot with the headliner. We declined and instead ate breakfast for dinner at the Kettle on Central Expressway. A very memorable night...

We played with the Dears at the Double Door a few years ago. That was awesome. Those guys and girls were really cool. The best part about it was at the time we were just a three-piece. They told me when they were in the bathroom they heard us start our set and thought we were a 5 piece band. They came out to check us out and to their surprise they only saw three dorks jamming away.
The night ended with some canadian headbutts.

I don't know. But the first out of town show I played, with a band when I still lived in Wyoming, was with Municipal Waste in Denver. Fucking hilarious.

Probably either DOA or Saccharine Trust in 1987 or thereabouts.
Then again, maybe the Meat Puppets, around the same time.
