My local friend is going to do all that for me soon. Thanks for the enthusiasm.
Actually, I'm doing some house-sitting the first week of July and I'm going to be recording some of my music. I'll be the one doing the engineering, bass, guitar, and...(crosses fingers) Vista-drums. I'll post some of that so you can hear the kit. I'm not going to commit to a deadline for submitting it, however.

A lot can depend on bearing edge shape and the thickness of the drum, but the short answer is Yes, brass usually has more ping and crack. This drum is modeled after the
Ludwig Black Beauty, which is a black chrome (or black nickel) plated brass drum. I have found that the Black Beauty has a little more tuning stability (generally) than thinner, lighter drums just because the mass of the shell doesn't transmit vibration to the lugs as readily, keeping them from backing themselves loose. Brass drums are (again, generally) louder and it's a little harder to get that low-mid fatness, or "cough" that you get from maple or Ludalloy, BUT it can be done with the right heads and a little moongel.

Hey all, I'm waiting to hear if the guy with the Green-sparkle Luddy still has it to sell. Then I can part with the BB.

Back at it...
18" Floor Tom pretty much finished. Need to buy another 18" hoop which no one ever seems to have.
The camera makes the green look weird. It's a much nicer green in real life.
Kick drum seam sanding well. I will finish this drum next.
