Ultimate Thunderdome: Fugazi vs. The Jesus Lizard

201
The Jesus Lizard sounded better under the influence of certian controlled substances, and they were the better live band.

Fugazi, important and ground breaking, yes. Got better with successive records? Yes.

Still, just not the great Rock N' Roll experience Jesus Lizard was.
You call me a hater like that's a bad thing

the ex could certainly blow fugazi off the stage. i saw it happen. seeing them will never be the kind of fun that seeing the jesus lizard could be.

though really, the ex beat both bands. duh.

also, neither fugazi nor the ex will ever have an album that has such a mood as "goat" but that is what made the jesus lizard the jesus lizard.

in fact, i would go so far as to say that jesus lizard would win again by the ability of every album having it's own mood. every one of them. fugazi's albums have no moods. none that i've ever felt anyway.

I can't even decide if this is true. I'm so use to thinking of the ex as its own entity, outside the realm of a real band somehow. How can I even judge?

Also, I voted for the JL, as I wrote before. Although Fugazi's "Argument" is a great album, I don't know what you're talking about.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

it's true, the ex is more like a musical cult.

"the argument" is fugazi's "blue:" over produced and under written. it's got nothing on the albums preceeding it.

For me In On The Killtaker, End Hits and The Argument have all very strong (and different) moods to them. As much as I love early TJL, the general difference between their first three records is what? Liar is a bit more agressive, Head swings more? That´s as far as I´d go.

Still, if I was the kind of person who tattoos the name of a band on them (well, the kind of persong who has tattoos at all) it´d be the Lizard.

Yeah. In ten pages I don't think anyone has argued, or will argue, that TJL needed a funkier rhythm section or that what Fugazi really needed was David Yow out front.

This was in response to a comparison between both bands members´ musicianship, FWIW.
