What Kathleen Hanna is saying is, in the end, good - but rhetoric this carelessly inflammatory doesn't do anyone any favors, least of all herself. Plus, the lyrics just fucking suck horribly.

I agree, major suckitude. Should she have said instead "beat your loving, devoted, caring, nurturing, selfless wife" instead?

Possibly...I bet that would have sounded particularly scalding coming out of Hanna's mouth...

It's just the whole "Eat meat, hate blacks, beat your fuckin' wife" line. I hate it so fucking much.

I know it doesn't concern me in particular, since I haven't raped anyone and never, ever, ever will, but it's just so general that it feels like she's accusing every guy who eats meat of hating blacks and being potential wifebeaters. I mean, I eat meat, my best friend is black, and if some girl actually decided to date me I'd probably be worshiping the fucking ground she walked on, so I was just really, really turned off.

I love the album Pony Express Record, but these are some seriously bogus lyrics if you ask me. If the music wasn't so bad ass I probably wouldn't even be into this band, due primarily to the lyrical content at times.

I agree. I'm really put off by the militant vegan "if you eat meat, you're an oppressor" attitude. I always point out to people expressing that attitude that Hitler was a vegetarian also.
