Re: Gear you HATE
201I borrowed a 1312 pedal for a couple months and absolutely loved it. Might be THEE boutique Rat.
Is $189 USD per rat, a cross section of value & goodness? I DONT KNOW MANjirbling rake wrote: Sat Aug 12, 2023 8:44 pmYou could try the 1312 Distortion from Black Mass Electronics:TylerDeadPine wrote: Sat Aug 12, 2023 10:39 am

"The 1312 Distortion is a famous three letter distortion circuit with 8 different clipping options on a rotary switch. The 1312 V3 features an internal charge pump that turns your 9V supply voltage into 18V for increased headroom. You can use an 18V supply but you must change the internal dipswitch settings FIRST."

From Black Mass - "50% of the profits from these pedals will be split between several organizations whose causes we support - No More Dysphoria, Transgender Emergency Fund, Asian American Resource Workshop, Black & Pink - Boston, and Solidarity North Shore."
Chillax man it's a jokefour_oclocker_2.2 wrote: Sun Aug 13, 2023 8:26 pmFrom Black Mass - "50% of the profits from these pedals will be split between several organizations whose causes we support - No More Dysphoria, Transgender Emergency Fund, Asian American Resource Workshop, Black & Pink - Boston, and Solidarity North Shore."
On a thread where folks are calling out JHS dude for bad politics, it seems off to me to be throwing shade towards a pedal company that's on the right side of things.
Yeah that’s cool of them - didn’t know thatfour_oclocker_2.2 wrote: Sun Aug 13, 2023 8:26 pmFrom Black Mass - "50% of the profits from these pedals will be split between several organizations whose causes we support - No More Dysphoria, Transgender Emergency Fund, Asian American Resource Workshop, Black & Pink - Boston, and Solidarity North Shore."

The JHS with the approximately same feature set is $249, no? I see value in saving $60 and not sending any of your money to god-botherers who want to torture and kill gay people in Africa.TylerDeadPine wrote: Sun Aug 13, 2023 6:36 pmIs $189 USD per rat, a cross section of value & goodness? Absolutely agreed, and I've never even played through one! After seeing it super hyped for a few years, I was surprised to find out that it's just a Rat but built with a low gain setting. Like, that's it?!?!?! That's the only pedal a company has been selling for 5 years, and then the "rare" color variants go for stupid money on Reverb?!?!?!frighteners wrote: Sun Aug 13, 2023 10:22 am On-topic and in the spirit of the thread, the 1981 Inventions DRV. Hate it. Of course I have one, bought at peak hype in 2018 because I am a Colossal Sucker. It's perfectly good (cusp of great, but doesn't play super well with others) RAT-ish pedal but oh boy, this Christian rock guitarist who does not design or build his own circuits (this one was a Bondi joint, I think, and his new one is a collaboration with EAE, incidentally a dude/company I respect a ton) milked the hype-train/ultra-limited-edition/"new colourway just dropped"/everything-that's-wrong-with-the-guitar-pedal-scene thing with a single circuit for five full years. Hate it hate it.
Its not. Though people sure seem to think it is. It has a lot of Rat-like elements to the schematic though.
