He's a great striker going through a bad patch. You watch, one'll go in off his arse and there'll be no stopping him. I'm hoping.

Which is why I put a fiver on him at 80-1 to score a hat trick against France. I was punching the wall after 25 minutes.

Actually, sticking him in the fantasy team is something I considered, because I agree with you that Toni must, unlike Gomez, start scoring at some point.

However a moment in the Italy v France game keeps running through my mind, when Toni was so done for pace it was almost painful to watch, and then I hear the voice of Vanessa Paradis whispering in my ear, "do not tutch heem, Daniele, do not tutch heem".

It's tough choosing a team at this stage, especially as a) one seems to actually have a whole bunch of money to spend; and b) a lot of your players will be playing each other, so you have to try and work out who might do well against whom. I'm pretty happy with my team though... that said, I've retired Ronaldo from his captaincy. Watch him score a hat-trick tonight...

I have never rooted for the Germans, but soon as I saw Ronaldo go down like a regular fucking Willem Dafoe (50th minute or so) I wanted them to win.

Yeah, I could have done with some shots of him crying at the end. I am sad that such a great player also seems to be a complete prat. Good game from where I was sitting.
