What's with these fucking stupid egg surcharges? Just change your fucking prices. Fuckinhell.
Fuck, that's dumb.
It hasn't hit super hard here because A. we were usually buying pasture raised to begin with so $5+ packs of eggs don't shock me and B. we have a lot of farms nearby, especially ones that specialize in A.
I get why it's a hot topic indicative of larger economic woes, but.. eggs are fucking great, high in quality protein, and kinda worth it even at double the price. I could find way less worthy bullshit to cut out of our food budget.

When I die I A. want to be sober, and B. want my kitchen to be clean.

Jason Isbell is confounding for me.
Has a pretty low batting average, but the ones that hit for me hit in a big way.
His new one is both a breakup album and also super horny for his new ladyfriend. Some really...not good lyrics.
Glad he's an outspoken left-ish dude. Not into his new teeth.

I've tried with his music and it's just ok. I did watch that doc a few years ago and he seemed like kind of a jackass party dude until he met his wife. So that seems unfortunate on several levels.

I woke up in the middle of the night to see the lunar eclipse (A-minus) and couldn’t get back to sleep so I saw this Isbell post and went down this internet rabbit hole and read this long GQ piece about his new artist partner:

I’m sorta neutral on her whole thing but for me this piece was incredibly eye opening about the art world and how it cultivates and rations out art to be attractive to 1 percenter investors. I am shocked at how gross this industry is, like 100x worse than, I dunno, max martin hit factory music industry stuff. I was very ignorant about how the art world worked

Yeah, a friend from our college years is by many measures a successful artist in NYC and it really seems like the worst aspects of hustle culture with none of the security. Always a fight just to keep the lights on.. no thanks.
Isbell does seem to punch well above his weight in the romance dept.

When you can't do the repairs necessary to fix your car in order to pass emissions because it would cost three times what the car is worth, so you've been saving money for a down payment on a reliable used one and then tariffs make the industry look at your down payment and budget for a monthly loan with a mirthless chuckle.
