Yup, "made in mexico".

I remember a discussion on the quality of products produced in various countries. Mexico vs. Japan vs. Korea or something like that? If anyone wants to weigh in on this subject, I'm all ears.

A... a '58 Jazzmaster? An original '58 Jazzmaster?

Goddamn. I'd, like, kill a hobo for one of those.

I know someone who knows someone that is selling an absolutely mint '58 Jazzmaster for $7K. So, if you'd rather not risk criminal liability for killing a hobo for his guitar, or if you'd rather just buy the guitar and quit looking for a hobo with one of these in mint condition, you just need to pay someone somewhere in the neighborhood of $7,000 (or maybe even less).

Ouch.

See, there's a reason I said "I'd kill a hobo for one of those" rather than "I'd pay a great deal of money for one of those." 7K is rent and utilities for a year, for me.

I got it many years ago (16 years ago if my math is correct) for $500 - this was before the mega-hyper-inflation of all things jag or jazz. I paid $250 for my jaguar. I remember when you could pick up Mustangs for $125-$150. Then everyone went crazy.

Now your only option is to kill a hobo, or apparently pay $7000 to drew patrick's friend.

I have no idea what mine is worth, it's a player and not a collectors item. The anodized gold pickguard has some wear on it, the body has no paint on it anymore, and I play it, so it gets some loving that way. I'm not interested in restoring it.

Sukop 5-string bass, lacewood top. Also a Peavy Foundation 4-string fretless, Ovation Applause 4-string acoustic, and soon a Frankenstein bass made from Ebay parts and a Carvin neck, 4-string, to be tuned B-E-A-D like the guy from Journey.
