Now officially fighting deportation on some super ropey mental health grounds, which is just as appalling as it reads, and is a strain I could well do without.
Forgive me for not knowing the particulars, but can you expound on this? I can’t even imagine…

Can't really be arsed right now. Long story short as can be - I'm from the UK, raised in Europe where I've spent most of my adult life, and been based permanently since 2009. Due to a very strange reading of a condition I have vs. my health insurance (which I bought out of caution as I shouldn't even need it right now), it's been deemed I'm not entitled to remain.
Appeals pending, I can be deported any time after four weeks from today, and will be sent to my country of birth, where I have no roots. Shouldn't be happening at all considering the strength of the original application, but it's such a strange decision to begin with that I'm not feeling good about an appeals process.
Naturally, I was more than active in campaigning against any of this shit happening at all, but the UK were mugged into voting for it and here we are. Or rather, here I am.

Flew out from Oregon to be with my son for his 21st birthday.
Wow. I remember when your kid was in single digits. We are old.
Yep. Time flies. Kind of terrifying.
Got him his first beer (he testified) at an Irish Pub a block from Wrigley Field, so he'll have that going for him.

I was calm, but man it was seriously close, less than a foot. Dude just turned left across two lanes and didn't see me in the right lane.

Bad mental health over the last couple of days. Not sure what threw the switch. Might be some family stuff, might be the the Covid situation worsening again, might be a general sense of being mired and spinning my wheels, or all of the above. My gf has been really lovely about it, though. Glad to have someone who gets it and doesn’t take it personally.
I’ve been off of anti-depressants for a few months. Time to get back on. Sometimes meditation and exercise can only do so much. Made an appointment with the head doc.

What an incredibly frustrating thing it is to interact with capitalism at the point of buying a computer. Particularly if that technology has got a picture of a piece of fruit on it.
Here's a grand and a half. Thanks for this machine that will die in 36 months and has a hard drive the size of a thumb drive in it.
Oh, sorry, I have to drive back to the store so I can buy the adapter that allows me to restore from my backup drive. This is fun. I love this.
Thank you, sir, may I have another?

The struggle is real. Buy a bunch of those little nonda adapters--the ones that look like this:
Have a few on you.
But yeah--you know I'm interested in
the Framework laptop, which has swappable parts and normal, accessible screws and connectors.

Aw damn I’m sorry you’ve been dealing with mental health struggles. I deal with that stuff pretty often. It’s great when you have someone who’s able to support you! My best friend is very helpful when I’m not having a good day, talking to them always makes me feel better.
