We have an older lesbian couple across the street that has a daily routine of leaf blowing. They recently acquired a very nice EGO 56V battery powered leaf blower. It's quieter, so I guess that makes the 30+ minute daily routine a little less annoying.MoreSpaceEcho wrote: Tue Apr 19, 2022 9:38 am ^^^^^^ Mrs MSE was ranting about them just yesterday. "Old men with nothing else to do but stand outside with their damn leaf blowers for HOURS. Pick up a fucking rake!"

My grievance is the realization that, after two years of working from home, the sheer waste of time involved in getting one's ass ready, lunch packed, and out the door and in transit to a remote workplace, and then reverse the whole thing at the end of the day. My 9:15 AM arrival could have been an 8:30 AM ass-in-seat working if I had just stayed home!
Tri-met wasn't so bad, but downtown Portland is a lifeless shithole these days, so my incentive for coming down here is really minimal.
And I know the dog misses me...
Re: Airing of grievances (catch-all)
214ALL leaf blowers.
Just ban them. The amount of times I drive past someone with a leaf blower in reasonably strong winds basically wasting their time....then there's the idiots that blow all the leaves into the road - first vehicle coming past puts them all up in the air again....council workers blowing them from one section of grass to another for no apparent purpose....
Just ban them.

215There's a dignity to raking or shoveling. A little is good for the body and you're engaging in a centuries old ritual.

216This, but also the driveway washers.FUCKING LEAF BLOWERS
These 100 year old European ladies in my neighbourhood always gotta hose down the driveway.
Middle of an August drought, but fuck it, can't have a dirty carpark, can we?
DIY and die anyway.

217Leaf blowers, hedge clippers, lawn mowers... many ways have been invented to make noise in the morning.

218It’s been nice here weather-wise, all week, at the end of the day; shit’s getting done; things are basically well, yadda yadda. Point being, I’m not all that eager to start out the weekend with a grievance, but…
Can’t say I have loads of good vibes to spare for…people who buy things from me on eBay during a pandemic and don’t make the effort to leave positive feedback.
I get that life can be hectic, a lot of people are suffering from some form of COVID malaise, but at any given moment, I’ve probably got better things to do than be a merchant online. Have always got stacks of books and films to get to, art of my own to make, bike rides to enjoy, food to eat, some kind of chores to take care of, etc., etc. If you’ve got the wherewithal to click the “buy” button and send over payment, you could probably handle posting positive feedback a few days later after receiving your item (assuming you’re satisfied enough to keep it).
Am not asking for your sister’s hand in marriage here, nor am I demanding a pound of flesh. You will not be added to any mailing lists. There’s no plea to “like” and “subscribe,” nor any expectation that we will remain connected in perpetuity. But I’m also not a non-sentient vending machine that coughs out what you want when you push my belly button. Have a little class and post positive feedback.

219That sound Tesla's make when they back up. Like a UFO or some shit. So dumb.
Re: Airing of grievances (catch-all)
220Would now be a bad time to point out that my grievance with eBay is that leaving feedback is tedious and annoying? Like, if you did something wrong, I'll tell you... otherwise we're good. It's like having to tell a cashier "no" a billion times to the offers at the register... please just let me give you my money and go.DaveA wrote: Sat Apr 23, 2022 8:33 amCan’t say I have loads of good vibes to spare for…people who buy things from me on eBay during a pandemic and don’t make the effort to leave positive feedback.
