When I was younger, I thought the words to "Super Freak" were "She's the kind of girl you read about in Newsweek magazine." And I thought, that girl is not very much of a super-freak.

As a boy, I remember listening to that sorta-psychedelic tune by The Supremes called Reflections and interpreting the lyric ...used to be.. as crisp of peeProbably contiguous (and mind you all, this is a vague recollection from being a little kid in the mid-1980's) with hearing that Stephanie Mills tune called Never Knew Love Like This Before. I interpreted ...love like this before as love like crispaphone.I still haven't figured out why crisp was the word my child brain latched on to.

Janeway wrote:blinded by the lightwrapped up like a douche!another runner in the nighti didnt know it wasnt douche, i always thought "whats this guy talking about?" like why would he sing about a douche bag?Bruce Springsteen originally wrote it as "cut loose like a deuce" which sounds to me like he was using a crude pooping metaphor to indicate that somebody had been casually discarded. The Manfred Mann version changed it to "revved up like a deuce" in order to make it a hotrod metaphor and not be about pooping. This is undermined by the fact that they clearly, unmistakably and without any doubt say "douche" and not "deuce", every time, with added emphasis on the SHHH.Which makes me wonder if some shenanigans were going on, regarding the changed and subsequently rechanged lyrics.

Just picked up Creedence's debut album - with their version of 'Ninety Nine & One-Half' - where it sounds like Fogarty is singing "'gonna have a porn-raid". Not sure if that means a massive discount on bongo-DVDs or the police kicking down some doors.Well, either side of the gutter, it doesn't spoil what is a great song on a great album.

REM is a favorite for misheard lyrics- and I'm not sure that the ones floating around on sites are really what Stipe wrote. There's a live performance where Stipe reads off the web lyrics for 'West of the Fields,' which someone transcribed as 'The animals /how strange / try to stick it in'I submit- "Radio Free Europe":What I hear is- "Calling all into Scranton, Calling all into Scranton"You see, he's talking about Scranton, PA. Sorry, though- no one is interested in going to fugging Scranton.
