Not to nitpick, but it was likely the Rockford Armory, by the Riverfront Sears building, which is now the Rockford Art Museum.

I saw some GREAT shows there... but i'll be damned if I can remember any.... We had great drugs in Rockford (probably still do).
Also the boat a fishing show was always there when I was a kid.

I had no idea KillDozer played Rockford.

We needed binoculars in order to see anything. He died a month later. I still have the program from that show, plus now I have my Mom's entire Elvis collection, on vinyl.

Then there was Neil Diamond, Michael Jackson, and The Police.

My first unchaperoned show had to be RUSH, the Moving Pictures Tour, when I was in high school.

You were in 3rd grade when Elvis died in 1977, and in high school when Moving Pictures came out in 1981?

I guess I must have been in 6th grade when I saw Elvis - I was probably pretty immature then, since my recollection is of a younger age.

Vice Squad at Altyryn Tech, 1980. I was 13. I looked 10. I remember being shocked their singer only wore some kind of body stocking above the waist. It was so loud I thought I was going to die. At some point I plucked up courage to ask for a pint at the bar. They served me but asked to bring ID next time. When I got home my parents were watching the first Children In Need Telethon on TV. My ears were screaming. Felt like I’d come back from Mars.

My brother-in-law, Robbie, was taken to the 1970 Isle Of Wight Festival by his uncle. Said uncle left him at the entrance with two tabs of acid and instructions to meet him in two days time. He was 10. He dropped the acid and was adopted by three teenage girls with whom he shared a tent for the weekend. He slept through Jimi Hendrix. He missed the Doors. All he remembers from his first concert is tits.

Damn...I think I caught that same tour, although I was so young that I'm not certain. I believe it was at the Six Flags outside of St. Louis...

Also seen, but not well-remembered at that same venue, around the same time:

-BTO
-Heart (twice...remember the later one, as I was 12 or so)
-Foghat (could have been someone else, but might as well have been...)
-Lita Ford (only caught a couple of songs...)
-Black Oak Arkansas

etc.

I had a lot of metalhead friends who went to that one...I, of course, couldn't afford it. Heard about it for months afterwards...must have been loud.

Those pansies were not very loud when I saw them with Halford at the Riverport Ampitheatre...and they played all that new crap...
