Have you ever been to that cinema in Cardiff that has a bar that has a fridge rammed full to the brim with different weissbiers? I played a show there once, I swear they had at least twenty different types. It was awesome.

This was with Bologne Pony yes? Was it supporting Neptune? I have a fantastic memory if these things are true.
I live within walking distance of Chapter. I loves it, I does. They also do nice food and have a beer garden. This beer garden is frequented by a dude known as The Mexican, as he dresses like a Mexica incessantly. He has a pointy little Van Dyke and an air of slightly-mental Beefheartiness about him. If he was a product, I'd endorse him.

simmo wrote:Fuzzbob, have you tried many Weissbiers? Just out of curiosity, because Paulaner's not one of my favourites. I quite like it, but I think I prefer most of the others I've tried - Erdinger, Franziskaner, Schneider Weisse, Maisel Weisse and especially the godly Weihenstephaner.

give Simmo 7 bottles of Schneider Weisse and he wets the bed.

TRUF

This Schneider Weisse looks like a weissbier to be reckoned with. I am now on a mission to locate some by this evening.

I love Erdinger and Franziskaner. Weidenstephaner, I almost forgot about because it's hard to get here, but oooh, is it good. Never had Maisel. Worth a shot, yes?

I was at an Assembly election once in the Wilds of Wales, well Ebbw Vale actually, and the Monster Raving Loonies were standing. That weird German bloke who dresses like a zombie doctor was there and everything. There was a bit of a scuffle around midnight. Down at the entrance, someone was shouting about how "he had to get in as one of his friends was running for Prime Minister." Then over the shoulders of the big burly policemen running the show, I saw some marraccas being shaken. It was the Mexican.

I had a bottle of this several years ago that I bought. I tasted it and forgot about it. Meanwhile I was sipping my usual Caol Isla, Lagavulin, Laphroaig, and other smoky stuff. One day I poured myself some when I had a moment to contemplate and after about half way through I got it. I'd been hearing good things too. This is not an acquired taste - it's already good if you like Islay scotch but there is an acquired (required?) shift in perspective somewhere that has to happen, at least for some of us. When you get it, this stuff is unbelievably good. fcukin amazing and endorsed.
