Saw some decent flicks like Sick - it was OK. Slashers usually aren't my go-to but I was entertained and mildly creeped out. Re: slashers: in theory antagonists being human with corporeality doesn't immediately appeal to me. After the reveal is made in Sick it lost all of its sense of being genuine.

Livid. Been waiting for a while to check it out. It didn't disappoint, but in terms of French Extremity I feel there are better examples.

Braid. I had a good time with this one. Not Crap. It's beautifully shot with vibrant, psychedelic sequences and wildly disorienting camera angles. Takes the bonds of female friendship to a twisted realm.

Fresh Hell. Not Crap No Waffles. It transcends the Zoom meeting-styled horror trend with a deliciously psychotic/over-the-top performance from the antagonist who also co-directs. I was in from the jump. The friendships felt real and the dialogue was hilarious and relevant. But it's the depraved horror that left me feeling not well in the best way horror should elicit. Gut punch of an ending. Recommended.

From Black was okay in spite of the amateurish lead performance, but it's also a reminder of how A24-ism is the new kitsch.

Indie feature about a douche who gets addicted to fucking a portable gloryhole. 10/10 for the gross body horror and I guess the movie has something to say about addiction but it feels too on the nose.

^ reminds me of a pretty good small horror/comedy from last year called Glorious

Glorious was a fun time and JK Simmons is always a hoot.

Another inspired Orthodox horror film is on Shudder titled Attachment. Lots of stuff happening: mystery, thriller, Jewish folk horror, but the most engaging part for my money is the lesbian romance at it's core. And zero jump scares! The creepy parts creep and hang in the air for a while. Recommended.

Watched Attachment last night, absolutely loved everything about it... favorite movie I've seen in a while. Such a sweet love story and they managed to intertwine the creepy atmosphere so well.

The Pope's Exorcist was pretty bad but it was ridiculous enough to be entertaining at times.

I think Russell Crowe was decent hamming it ip as the priest. It definitely recognized its own silliness, though I doubt the devout will see it as such.

We watched “A Dark Song” a couple of weeks back. Good stuff!

LOVE this movie. Powerful ending. I recently watched From Black which shares a lot of the same themes with none of its craft or heart.

I also recently watched Consecration. What a mess.

Super into a local dreamy psych band called Divino Niño. Haven't heard one song that hasn't charmed me, and pairing a lovely tune like "Plastic Love" with a creepy and bonkers massage music video seals the deal.
