I'm attempting to watch a bit of the 'Masters' game between England and Germany veterans on ITV4.
At the moment it is 5-1 to Germany, who have a much younger team.
According to Clive Tydesley, it should also be taken into account that "our team has more MBEs than theirs".
And after a jokey pitchside interview with Viv Anderson ("I'll be knackered in the morning!" laughs Viv), Tydesley also explained that "we've had more fun than them".
Tydesley just informed us all that the German players had some difficulty travelling today due to an "air strike in Germany. That's an industrial strike, of course". I'm glad Clive explained that, because for a moment there I did think they'd been delayed by a bombing raid.
It's a fucking veteran's kickabout and this tit is making it virtually unwatchable.

2224Hah. I like that kid better when he's trying to manage Bradford.
He must be glad Windass plays for Hull now.
(Oh, and just in case anyone cares. This is really what he's saying.

2225Leeds United are top of the league! Admittedly we're the only team to have played so far but hopefully it's a sign of things to come. Coming back from a goal down against newly relegated Scunthorpe away from home was a fine result for the opening season.
To look at the positives, all the new players had a good game. In particular Robert Snodgrass has been unanimously heralded as Man of the Match. It looks like Macca has his own team now and hopefully today was a sign of things to come. Eddie Gray is a much better commentator than Peter Lorimer was last season too.
Minor quibble though. I'm not sure about making Fraser Richardson captain this season. I half expected him to be dropped in favour of veteran defender Paul Telfer so this comes as a surprise. On occasion he has a good performance but he lacks consistency. Maybe he'll connect with young Snodgrass and it will be alright. I'll be watching this space.

2226The same shit as last season. Basically, it's any of the Top 4 that will win it this season (Manchester Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool). It doesn't look like it's going to change anytime in the future either.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, the predictability of football. For all I care, it could stay the same for the next 5 fucking years. These clubs are becoming stronger and stronger.
Just consider this... Manchester Utd have a 1 in 4 chance to win the league and so do any of the other 3 "big" clubs.

2227This is more "football computer game" related, but I've just found Dino Dini's (programmer of the Kick Off series) video blog. Interesting stuff.

True enough but I have to confess, I found the Premiership to be very exciting last season. It had the worst possible result (Scum winning a double) but as a spectacle, it was highly entertaining for the most part. I think if Leeds make it back to top flight football, I'll probably change my tune. I'm so glad we're out of that nonsense for a while. Makes the game interesting again. Less concerned about the money aspect because it doesn't seem to matter as much down here in the third tier.
This year is going to be fun because Scolari is going to steal the Premiership from Ferguson. I know that Chelski are representative of everything wrong with football but I don't really care. I just want to see Scum deprived of their toy at the end of the year again.

2229Hearts began their campaign with a 3-2 win over Motherwell. Rangers up next at Ibrox.

Great game too. Did you see it? Obviously it's ridiculous to be making an assessment of the team at this stage of the season, but Hearts seem up for it this season.
I think the battle for 3rd in the SPL this year will be very interesting.
