The fact that "The Message" has a shout out to "Whiter Shade of Pale" in it is under-discussed.

I was thinking of something dumb so I made this extremely low-effort "OC":

Everything in Its Ralph Place

My wife has been sending me screenshots of deer from her trailcam and I'm reminded that I don't think I could ever intentionally end the life of another sentient creature. I mean, I swerve on the road to avoid running over caterpillars.

Beautiful in its simplicity.

yer a mensch, sir kicker

I had to explain to my buds (same age as me - mid-40s) and sister (early 40s) who all of the following people were:
- Mike Johnson
- Chuck Schumer
- Bari Weiss
- Bill Kristol

Not sure whether to be envious or horrified

I'm mostly with you there, except for the occasional insect or arachnid. I do try to make some effort to save the latter when I'm not screaming.

I can accept the second two as inside baseball, but the first 2 is pretty sad and makes me think we're fucked.

I heard John Lennon’s mid-70s song “#9 Dream” earlier this week for the first time in at least a decade.

That song might have the all-time worst gap in quality between the verses and the chorus. That chorus is just . . . “awful” seems too inadequate a term.
