Nice to hear all the Man United fans travelling back on the M62/M6/M1/Mwherever ringing in to Five Live and complaining about missing key players.

Yes, that's Manchester United, European and Premiership champions, with the most famous brand in football, and probably one of the biggest transfer kitties and pulls in English football whining about a lack of squad depth.

We should all spare a thought for them.

Yes, poor them, How sad.

Well looks like Tommydski bumped me to number two by two points.
Congrats!

If the guy I call "Yo Cubo", (because he looks to me to be a swift giant cube) would not have got that darned yellow card we'd have been tied.
If Johnson would not have lost so many point for giving away goals, I'd have stuck.

Gives me some thinking to do changes to make for next week.

Again has been quite fun.

I can't be too upset about my opening in the LoS; substitutions definitely saved my total from the shit defense I'd selected. Ashton's goals would have been helpful, although having seen the highlights now, it was a typically Ashton performance: two goals, and then in attempting to score a hat trick with a thirty yard free kick he hit the top of the stand and injured himself so badly he had to be substituted.

Leeds' collapse at home was obviously more annoying but perspective must be kept. I think John Sheridan has beating Leeds on his personal list of targets for the season. They're a good side who should be towards the playoffs this year, but those are the teams Leeds need to beat to go up. It's no good beating the worst team in the league in a competition we won't win if we're going to lose league games at home like that. Hopefully it'll serve as a reality check post-Chester and serve to redouble Leeds' concentration.

The Johnstone's Paint Trophy draw has seen Leeds paired with Bradford at Elland Road for the first time since we beat Bradford 6-1 and Stuart McCall started on all his defenders. I foresee an evening of friendly banter and brotherly bonhomie. Actually, it's likely to be carnage.

Fabregas can't score when he doesn't play...and my only mf sub was injured too.

Oh well, there's a lot of football to be played.

Newcastle ruled yesterday.

Spare a thought for the solitary fucker sitting below you. Fabregas....Carrick....James as goalkeeper....it really couldn't have gone any worse. I'm trying to decide whether to make changes now or see how things pan out in the coming weeks.

I really should've checked the scoring system properly. I had started the Guardian one with my housemate and theirs is way more involved.

Well, remember that you're allowed one free transfer per week. So you can get rid of players who you think will be crap for the rest of the season (or following week) and replace them with someone who will do the job.

You also have one Wildcard transfer for the season. You can change as many players as you like, and it won't cost you a point deduction. But this can only be played once a season. (Last season we all played this about 4-5 weeks in, after seeing how things were shaping up.) So make sure you're ready and you know who you want to pick.

This was not the best start for me either. I had swapped Berbatov out since he was going to be transferring to Man United, but then it didn't materialise so I thought it was a rumour. Swapped him back in, but then on Saturday morning he hands in a transfer request and only plays 20 minutes for Tottenham. He's out now. For sure.

For those of you who have Fabregas in your squad. He's worth it once he gets fit, but I would make sure you have substitutes who can cover for him in the meantime.

I need to tinker with my defense a little bit as well.

I've already used mine! Fuck Berbatov in his moaning face I say.

I think Afonso Alves is going to score at least 15 goals in the Premiership this season. I really do.

I have high hopes for the season ahead. With the signings I made during the summer, coupled with the solid core of my team from last season, I believe that Dykstra Academicals will be the team to break into the top 4.
