I'm sure you know this already, but (IIRR) Gordon Smiths are wired with a treble boost in the last bit of the volume control so 8 (say) is full volume, and 9/10 is treble-boosted/bass-cut.

Loads of people with Gordon Smiths seem oblivious to this and thus (which their guitars turned to 10) their guitar sound is (to me at least) more suited to an audience of bats.

Thought I'd mention it, just in case it explained your 'weediness'.

Superb guitar by the way.

I did not know that! I got it second hand and the guy I bought it off didn't say anything about it...I'll do some messing about with volumes, thankyou!

Gordon Smith Chap wrote:What is the difference in sound between say a Gibson SG® and a similar GSG?

With the tone set around 7-8, they are very similar. At 10, GS guitars are a little brighter. Overall string balance is a little better and coil tapping offers a wholly different spectrum.

1967 fender tetecaster - was my dads. i learned how to play on it and it is still my main guitar. i fucking love it. i've become paranoid recently about theft and don't want to take it on the road anymore.

1970? fender telecasater custom - really beat up but nice. bought it about 13 years ago. probably sounds better then my other one but doesn't look as cool.

1960? eko - don't know the model. it's semi hollow and pretty cool sounding. doesn't stay in tune. i just got it back from a fairly long loan to my friends kid and it's been fun playing it at home.

circa 1900 acoustic "parlor" style guitar. no manufacturer name but probably made at the washburn factory in chicago. after looking for an acoustic for ever i finally found this one last year. i still feel like i stole it for $500

on order: egc custom - telecaster body type with neck specs from my 67'. i can't wait to get this thing.

'65 Harmony Silhouette is my A #1.

Plus I've got one of those Gretsch Electromatic hollow-bodies, pretty nice guitar for the price. And a Squire Tele that I won. A Danelectro 12-string electric. A 70s Ibanez acoustic. The guitars I never play: a 70s Hondo II Les Paul copy with a fucked-up neck, and my first guitar, a Yamaha strat copy with a humbucker in the bridge.
I only have one bass, but its a good'un; a 70s Rickenbacker 3001.

Niiiiice. BTW, have you checked here for pickguards? They seem to have them in the $20-$46 range...though I have no idea what the "group" designations are about.

yeh, i have. the groups are about the material they use for the guard. i guess i just have been holding my breath to find a used one because i'm a cheap, cheap jerk.

also, the ones from that web site won't come with that cool little "E" on it.

2. 1973 Guild S-100 with oak leaf and acorn patterns cut into the body.
Looks just like: http://www.guitarcrazy.com.au/GuiS1001970s.htm
I added a Bigsby, but all acorns and leaves are still visible. My main instrument.

3.Late 60's Hagstrom acoustic.

I still have these instruments. Since this posting I have acquired:

-Guild S-300
-Jerry Jones Shorthorn
-Gretsch BST ("The Beast!") 70's solidbody

Eventually I'd like a Guild Bluesbird/M75, a Guild Starfire, a Tele (or a G&L Tele-style), and something with P-90s.

Mexi-Strat. Old 60's Kustom Craft (for slide mostly). Old 1966 Fender Mustang.

My main guitar right now is a red MIJ 60's Custom Tele with a Bigsby. I had the stock pu's, pots and electronics taken out and replaced with higher quality stuff.
