One thing Liverpool certainly need is more strength in depth - the squad is woefully thin to be competing for major honours at the business end of the season.

While the first howler looked the more egregious I think the second was less-forgivable.He should have had the second one covered to be sure, but it could have been a mishap - but the first one was just completely stupid. I do worry about the discipline issue with Keita, but I think Klopp will get that sorted - possibly. And yes, it will add a lot of strength through the middle of the park. I think if they brought in Fekir he would play much like when Coutinho was still in the side. Mane and Salah out wide, Firminho up top, and Fekir would parade through the middle as a centeral attacking midfielder - the only thing is that just about all of those players can switch roles at any given moment. But I'm really not sure another zippy attacking midfielder is what's needed. He certainly wouldn't be a bench warmer though. Firminho is incredibly talented - agreed. I actually think he's still growing into it, and we may see even more from him next season.

I agree that a three of Henderson, Keita, and Fekir would be wide-open - and not ideal. Indeed, it was open when they were putting Coutinho in that role. But I think Keita has good defensive qualities. If they were to make sure that Keita and Henderson covered the ground defensively, then Fekir could do his thing. It's not ideal, but if they sign him, that's probably the best they could do, besides sit him on the bench. It's not what I want either - but Klopp doesn't take my phone calls anymore. Like I said, I really don't see the need for him. Nico Adie wrote:One thing Liverpool certainly need is more strength in depth - the squad is woefully thin to be competing for major honours at the business end of the season.Liverpool were very unlucky to be deprived of Oxlade-Chamberlain at the end of the season. He was probably the only person they could have thrown on in place of Salah in the final that could have still kept some of the threat and forward momentum. We all knew that Lallana had too much rust. I was even surprised by that choice. I might have even gone with throwing Solanke on instead of Lallana and letting Mane and Firminho try and pivot off of him. At least he would have caused some physical problems and given us height in the box. Not really how Liverpool plays these days though. Also, he wouldn't exactly impress anyone as a goal scoring threat - not that Lallana has done much of that recently either. Going back to the midfield though. This just happened: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/44284792Fabinho. Really solid defensive midfielder if he can adapt his game to the Premier League. So with Fabinho and Keita in that's definitely Can gone, and looks like Milner will be cover at this point.

I'd be amazed if they won the trophy they crave under Klopp anyway - the amount of luck required to play that style of football and grind out a win in a league with four or five very good sides in it is pretty big. Could definitely get some cups though as the run to Kiev showed.

They can buy whoever they want up top, until they get a top drawer keeper, and replace the entire defence aside for VVD, they'll stay bereft of trophies. It's like watching Keegan's Newcastle or late Wenger Arsenal. Great going forward and shocking at the back. Another year without silverware and the team will be stripped again, perhaps Klopp too. Still, Stevie G should be free around that time?

Kind of mind boggling. They're hoping to sell a fuck-ton of shirts. Wonder how he'll do in Italy.

I think this is the season that either all of the Spurs players that Pochettino has kept on the team come wholly together behind his vision and do some special things...or enough of them realize that the attention they are going to get this year causes some selfishness and dissent and it comes crashing down. Hoping for the former, obviously.

We will have more fun.

All that artillery and no care to deploy it.I think he'll stay though. Turgid though it is he comfortably has the second-best team in the league and, even if the degree of competition hots up, should be able to keep them competitive and continue to clear the Delaware debt. That's all they've given a shit about under the occupation anyway - entertainment and trophies are secondary.
