It has a MIDI in, so I'm 99% sure it's an external synth module that can be trigged with any old MIDI keyboard controller. Will assume the 1/4" output is a TRS/stereo out.Frankie99 wrote: I igotta be honest, when I see something like that where there really is no input device like a guitar or keyboard or e-kit or whatever, I get lost in what the thing actually does.
Maybe I just don't synth, bro.

I got the Super Vintage fake SVT to run into this little solid state bass head that I have, and I think it sounds pretty swell. It captures both the upper-end "ting" and the midrange grunt of the Ampeg tone stack, which are the first two things to go away when I try to use a SS amplifier.
It's good enough that I decided to get the Deluxe 61 and try it on guitar/baritone. It's also quite good--imbues things with the black panel Fender sound and crucially does about as good a job on the Fender tremolo as you could expect.
Their pedals are not cheap, but I like what I've heard from them so far.
Please tell me you are not talking about this pedal...eephus wrote: Fri Jun 16, 2023 4:32 pm I've gotten two of the Origin Effects all-analog preamp pedals recently.

That is it, yes.numberthirty wrote: Please tell me you are not talking about this pedal...
... I already had to convince myself that I didn't actually need that pedal after seeing that clip.
Most amp modeling, digital or analog, is not good. I agree 100%. I have tried many amp modeling things, and other than a couple bass plug-ins that are good enough, I basically dislike them.Garth wrote: I gotta be honest, I've never understood those amp-in-a-pedal pedals & they've been around in one form or another for like 20 years.
The Super Vintage into a good Class D power amp has sufficient balls that I don't miss having a V4 very much if at all. It's not "the same," but it's close and I'm satisfied by it.For bass, sure - plug into pedal > pedal into effects return and then the pedal's a preamp or also w/ the sansamp, you have a di that sounds like you want to sound.
For guitar, if you're touring and borrowing backline, maybe this also makes sense in that you can have pretty close emulation of your sound.
Well...you kind of already made the cases for doing it! Ha ha!But that demo above, he is plugging a preamp into another preamp...like some seriously boutique-looking thing no less. I'm not saying he doesn't sound good, but why isn't this putting a hat on top of another hat? If he was going into an efx return...ok but that's never how I see these used.
What gives, what am I missing here?

AB165 Bassman-style preamp. Customer is in love with the sound of his AB165 Bassman but needs something mass-transit friendly. He'll be pairing it with a pedalboard power amp (Quilter or the like) and have an all-in-one pedalboard rig that can connect direct to a cab. It reproduce the Bassman preamp with FETs in place of 12AX7 triodes, running at 18V off a standard 9V supply, with an added master volume. I tested it by plugging it in to the power-amp in on a Sunn Beta and it rips!
I don't oppose using an 'amp pedal' like any other pedal, though do stop short of using the speaker emulator button into a real speaker cab (even though it's just additional EQ).Garth wrote: Sat Jun 17, 2023 9:30 am That being said I'm not a purist by any means so anything that delivers the thing you're going for is good by me. The weird part for me was "ok, I'm taking a preamp and tone stack and then plugging it into...another preamp with another tone stack on it" hence the "putting hat on a hat" comment.
